Quarantine day 10

Well, it's day ten! I have no real complaints. Yes, there are times when it would be nice to go and do something outside the apartment, but Steve and I are together and we're safe. And we're doing what we have been asked to do, and that is stay indoors. Hopefully people will heed that request and this thing will be over sooner rather than later.
I watch the news to keep up with everything, but it's scary to do that. The numbers that are coming in are horrific. But, also, as I mentioned in a previous post, there are heartwarming stories that revives my faith in humanity.

Something else that is uplifting with this ordeal, is the positive effect the quarantine is having on the planet.
The Earth is healing. That's what some have said, and I feel it's true. Even if it's such a small percentage compared to the years of neglect and abuse the planet has suffered, it still makes a difference.
There was a show on the Discovery Chanel a few years ago that showed what would happen if humans were suddenly removed from the planet. It went hour by hour, day by day, week by week, months, years . . . It showed how the planet changed. Almost immediately, the temperature dropped several degrees because of all the body heat that was eliminated, not to mention when all the car engines ceased to run.

Things are happening like that now. The rivers and streams are cleaner. The air is cleaner and free of jetliners. The oceans are quiet because of the reduced traffic. In my Serpenteens series, Lana talks about the noise in the oceans due to luxury liners and their engines. Animals such as whales and dolphins that talk to one another or travel using echo-location suffered because of the interfering noise.
But things have changed.

The oceans are quiet. The skies are clear. The rivers are cleaner.

At least for now . . .

  1. Oh yes! The Earth is healing! That's really good news. Thank you, Pol.
