Quarantine day 7
It's the start of another day for self-quarantine. I'm starting off this day with a bit of anxiety, because we have to go to the store. Two stores, actually, because we have to get Finn's puppy food, and PetSmart is the only one that carries large breed puppy. So it's the pet store and Walmart.
The feeling of fear with getting out in public and being careful not to touch anything seems to be overwhelming at times. But we'll go in quick and easy, hold our breath and keep hands in our pockets. It feels almost like a covert operation or something.
When the necessary store run isn't on the schedule, Steve and I have been doing our best to keep busy and keep boredom at distance.
Of course there's TV and Netflix, we also started watching Game of Thrones again, even though we only just finished watching the entire series about a month ago.
BUT! There's a good reason for that, other than being cooped up inside. It is a bit embarrassing, but what the hell?
As most of you who know Steve and I, you are aware that last spring we sold our cabin up on the mountain and moved down to Colorado Springs. Roughly nine months ago. When we moved into the apartment, we purchased a new TV, one that we had been wanting for a while. An 82" high-def beauty that we have since fallen in love with. We also purchased a sound bar and speakers to compete the experience.
And what an experience it was. The picture and sound were incredible, especially with 4K movies.
But there was something up with the sound bar. The dialogue was always a bit too low, because that was still coming out of the TV speakers, and they were in the back. We were told initially that was just the way it was.
Fast forward eight months, about three weeks ago, and Steve and I are in BestBuy looking at other sound bars systems that would be better. A sales guy came up, and we explained our situation. He said, "the so-and-so systems should have good sound." He looked up our previous order and saw that we did have the particular system he was talking about. When we explained our problem with hearing the dialogue he asked if we went into SETTINGS and turned up the center speaker of the sound bar.
*Cricket-cricket-cricket*
Apparently, in SETTINGS, you can turn up the center speaker of the sound bar. It would have been nice if the initial sales guy had mentioned that, instead of the opposite.
Anyway, we went home and messed with the system, and low and behold, it worked. The dialogue was louder. And what's more, we found out how to turn up levels of the other sounds. So now EVERYTHING sounds so different and cool, leading us to have to re-watch everything we've watched over the last nine months!
Starting with Game of Thrones!
Live and learn! 😀
